Is it possible to materialize architectural thinking?

The question suggests one scientific, almost universal answer, which insinuates a built result. Nevertheless, as we detach the complex layers of the palimpsest that is architecture, a plurality of unique answers will perhaps be revealed, as a result of our own personal understanding of the discipline.

Prelude is BY’s first exhibition. In it, we present an extensive –but not exhaustive– sample of multiple interpretations for this question. It’s a selection of objects which narrate the creative process and theoretic principles that dictate the practice of each architect involved.

If, on one hand, we’re aware that architectural representation is often kept, at the end of the process, as archive or research material. On the other hand, it becomes obvious that architecture cannot be possible without representation. Prelude rises from a personal approach with studios that use representation as a critical and conscious tool, either for its practical or experimental qualities.

Prelude opens on Thursday, August 25 at Proyecto Público Prim, with works by Agustín Hernández, Alberto Kalach, Alejandro D’Acosta, Ana Nuño de Buen, Andrés Souto, APRDELESP, Bachillerato Rural Digital No. 186 + Comunal, Carlos Bedoya, Edgar Rodríguez, Entorno Taller de Paisaje, estudio estudio, Estudio Ome, Héctor Barroso, Javier Senosiain, Juan Benavides, LANZA Atelier, Ludwig Godefroy, Manuel Cervantes, Max Von Werz, Naso, oioioi, ORU, Pablo Kobayashi, Palma, Roberto Michelsen, Rozana Montiel, Sofía Betancur + Mónica Lamela, Suma, TANAT and Tatiana Bilbao.

It can be visited until Saturday, September 3rd 2022.
