02. TANAT x Ranieri Lava Stone: Landscape of reflections

10 — 12 October, 2025
Naples

1/8

At a time when architectural practice is increasingly called to rethink its relationship with geography, materiality, and craft, EDIT CULT presents Landscape of Reflections: the first collaborative project between architect Diego R Borrell, based in Mexico City and founder of TANAT, and Ranieri Lava Stone, excellence in the transformation of volcanic rock.

Paisaje de Reflejos is a volcanic stone landscape. Conceived as a personal compendium of fragments from Diego´s journey in Naples,  is a reflection on the city’s countless and overlapping layers of stories, sedimented symbols, and natural landmarks.

Composed of totemic elements and micro-architectures, the installation subverts the scale of the city, the volcano and the gulf and becomes a lens where the symbolic and the material merge into one coherent whole.

Curated by BY Galería de Arquitectura, the intervention proposes an exchange between Naples and Mexico City, two volcanic geographies bound by a shared geological memory. The project originates from TANAT’s residency in Naples and Pompeia  in July 2025 and marks the beginning of a broader creative collaboration.

At the end of its stay in the castle, this body of work will be separated and each element will become a self-stending fragment of a once unitary landscape.

Ranieri Lava Stone, a leading reference in the craft of volcanic stone, shapes this project as an active interlocutor of Neapolitan artisanal knowledge. In this alliance, the material becomes the subject and the object of the work, activating a conversation that interweaves tradition, experimentation, and critical thought.
