Eigtheen Drawings of a Golf Course (2), 2024
Pencil on paper
21 x 29.7 cm
Eighteen colors are used one after another to make this series of drawings of an 18-hole golf course. This is an exercise on observation and abstraction of a landscape into an array of shapes and textures, from a mountain ridge and a palm tree, to fairways, bunkers and hazards. Throughout the series, there is a consistent point of view from within the green. And just as a professional golf player would keep track of their score by using a scorecard where they record the number of strokes they take on each hole, each drawing is complemented by an annotation of the order in which each of the eighteen colored pencils were used.
