
Juan Benavides
(Monterrey, 1991)
Juan Benavides works in and around architecture.
His chronological body of work encompasses families of projects, including short films, drawings, buildings, collages, photographs, and sound recordings—in no particular order of importance.
At present, Juan is based in the Netherlands, making films on contemporary architecture, and working as a researcher at The Berlage Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design. He obtained a Degree in Architecture from the Universidad de Monterrey in 2014.
Subsequently, Juan worked as a project leader in Mexico City-based architectural office Productora. In 2016 he obtained the Young Creators Grant from the National Fund for Culture and The Arts (FONCA). He was awarded the renowned Beca Arq. Marcelo Zambrano from CEMEX to study the post-master program at The Berlage, from which he graduated cum laude in 2021.
